It's a 2020 wrap
This week we moored in the brand new Kairos Marina on the north side of the Datca peninsula. And what a season it has been. We started the season with our new gulet with many upgrades to provide our guests with a lifelong memory. Then human tragedy hit, and the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the planet.
First and foremost, we hope that our guests and other friends and their near ones are healthy and continue to stay safe. Our team in Datca, as well as our team in The Netherlands, is in good health.
At Sailing Chef, we are thankful that we have been able to provide a great experience to those guests who have been able to come out and sail with us. We’d like to thank you for your trust and your kind feedback.

Hoping for a more or less normalised season, we have now started our preparations for 2021. As said, our gulet moored in Kairos Marina and will undergo maintenance and upgrades. We keep investing in quality to be able to offer you a memorable experience.
In the meantime, we are grateful for the many bookings we have received so far. We thank our returning guests for their loyalty and our new ones for their confidence. Although we sincerely hope that social distancing will be a thing of the past soon, our gulet cruises offer the ideal way to spend your vacation in your own bubble.
To this point, an article that appeared in Travel Weekly by senior editor Jeri Clausing mentioned:
“Luxury tour operators and yacht rental companies said they are seeing growing demand for the variety of small-boat products that enable families or groups of friends to travel in their own bubble.
Gulet/Barge cruising encompasses so much of what we've learned to appreciate over the last few months at home. It's all about travelling at a slower pace to immerse yourself in one region and spending time outside.
A product expected to expand due to growing interest is gulets: small, wooden Turkish schooners that, like river barges, also generally carry between six and 18 guests. They have sails but are typically powered by engines. A brilliant way to discover the Lycian coast in Turkey.”
We expect to publish our 2021 prices in the coming weeks. As a special offer for our blog readers, we offer you 2020 prices, if you get your offer by 15 November and book within 30 days thereafter.
As the title says, “it is a wrap for the surreal 2020 season”. Our full focus is now on 2021 when we’ll set sail in the breathtaking scenery, offering you culinary magic and genuine hospitality again!
