With more and more countries easing restrictions, we started our season last month. In the past weeks, we sailed with great guests who enjoyed their holiday onboard Sailing Chef.
Infection rate slows down | Vaccination rate accelerates | Restrictions lifted
Turkey's COVID-19 infection rates have come down rapidly since May. As the official ECDC overview shows, the infection rate (14 days) is now lower than in countries like The Netherlands, Spain and The UK and similar to France, Ireland and Canada (source: ECDC). Across Turkey, 14.5 million people have received both coronavirus doses, and more than 28.2 million have received the first dose. The vaccination rate has accelerated to 1.5 million doses per day.
There are no travel incoming travel restrictions for most EU and no-EU travellers into Turkey, and local restrictions are lifted on 1 July.
This has led some EU countries, including Germany and France, to declare Turkey safe to travel. Some countries keep some restrictions in place for now. We are optimistic these will disappear soon, given the vaccination rates and infection numbers.
